Would You Leave Your Job if Your Employer Paid You to Quit?

Knowing when to quit your job is never an easy thing to figure out. Amazon has recently taken an interesting approach by offering up to $5,000 to employees who want to quit. Would you take it?

The idea behind the policy is that if an employee is willing to accept up to $5,000 ($1,000 per year of employment, up to five years) to leave their job, they're probably not happy with their long-term prospects at the company anyway. According to Amazon, roughly 2-3% of employees accept the offer. While Amazon would obviously prefer employees stay, weeding out the unhappy workers can help boost overall satisfaction for all parties.

The rest of us will probably never have this option available to us, but it makes for an interesting thought experiment. Let's set aside outlandish and obviously ridiculous scenarios. If your employer came to you today and said they'd give you a couple months worth of pay to leave the company, would you do it? Your answer may help you figure out just what the right career choice is for you.
